Advent 2008

Greetings!

Dear Parishioner

I hope you enjoy our latest Newsletter and that you find it interesting and helpful. We have tried to ensure that everyone receives a copy in time for the Service of Loving Remembrance on 21st November. In the month of November the Church traditionally remembers and prays for all the faithful departed. However, where someone has died there is also someone who is grieving, and this Service is for all who mourn.

Advent begins on 30th November. In her wisdom the Church encourages us to set aside these four weeks of preparation for Christmas. If we are wise we will take the opportunity offered and make it a spiritual time. In the Newsletter you will find suggestions that you may be able to use, and there is a Calendar for Advent for Children as well. In particular I would draw your attention to the Prayer Breakfasts that we will be holding on Saturday mornings in December before Christmas. It will only take a little time out of your morning, but the benefits may be huge!

I do hope to see you at our Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, 6th December. It is always an enjoyable social occasion, but also important for the parish financially. Our costs rise just as domestic costs rise, and the Bazaar helps us to meet some of our commitments.

Finally, let me wish you every grace and blessing for the Christmas Season. I wish you safe travelling if you will be away from home, and if you are in Leicester, I hope to see you at our Christmas Masses.

God bless you all.

                                           Father John Joe Maloney

Almighty and merciful God,

let neither our daily work

 nor the cares of this life prevent us

from hastening to meet your Son
