HELLO & GOODBYE
OODBYE IS NEVER AN EASY WORD TO SAY, especially when the person is moving out of our life. On the other hand, if that person had never come into our life we would not have enjoyed the times shared, the stories told and the friendship made.
We were very happy to say hello to Father Gihong when he came to our Parish about two years ago. He was in Leicester studying for his Masters Degree and living in cramped student accommodation at Leicester University. It was a difficult time for him. Then he heard that there was a place for him to live in Father John Joe’s house, and he was delighted. During his time here he has made a big contribution to the Parish. Being familiar with the media – that was where he earned his MA - Father Gihong has helped to make the Parish Website into an interesting, informative and good looking facility for the Parish. He has been active with his camera even though you might not have noticed him. Take a look at the website, though, and you might see yourself there!
Now, Father Gihong has been called back to South Korea by his Bishop to begin working in his Diocese. Perhaps he will take a glance at our website from time to time to see how it is progressing. If we took a look at his website we wouldn’t understand it at all!
When we say ‘goodbye’ to Father Gihong, we do it in the fullest meaning of the word – ‘God be with you, Father Gihong’ and thank you for your presence among us.
Although we say Goodbye, we say more Hello’s
Just recently Father John Joe has been meeting other newcomers to our Parish. He was been delighted to meet three children from Zimbabwe, a family from Tanzania and other families from home and abroad. They, no doubt, found saying goodbye difficult as they left family and friends to come here. But they are all very welcome and for as long as they are here they are now part of the family that is Blessed Sacrament Parish.
We don’t know yet how all the different nationalities in our Parish observe Lent and celebrate Easter, but we look forward to finding out and to seeing how we can learn from each other.
